Drawing is meditation with a pencil!
Express your inner world through drawing; no prior experience is necessary. Strengthen your skills through a classical approach to drawing using a step-by-step method to learn to draw; this course is for the absolute beginner to the intermediate student. It covers all the basics of drawing and provides insights into the history of drawing in art, learning representational techniques to articulate your stories and sensitivity. Demonstrations, drawing time, and individual critiques focus on the fundamentals of proportion, comparison, gesture, abstract shapes, value, and rendering. We’ll discuss materials and study master drawings to understand their strengths and technical processes.
Students will be guided and will have a constant evaluation while they are drawing. They will have individual instruction according to how they are developing through the proposed exercises. They will produce a body of work mastering basic drawing abilities and using new methods to communicate stories and develop a visual vocabulary.
After every drawing is completed, the student will be evaluated through a final critique to review learned lessons and assess what additional improvements can be explored to the drawing and next exercises.
