In this 3-hour workshop, students will tackle the classic challenge of drawing the human figure from life. There will be demos and exercises to practice gesture, proportion, movement, foreshortening, form, light and shadow.

Students will learn to put marks on paper that will describe what they see in front of them. This class is not so much about finished drawings but rather the process of learning to express what they see on paper. A nude model will be used, taking short and long poses.

Various media may be explored. There will be a recap at the end of the session for students to review their work and learn from their fellow artists.

All materials are included.
Open to teens with written parental permission.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Kristen Thiele is a painter and lives and works in Miami, FL. Thiele received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1995 and her MFA from Miami International University in 2012. Thiele has taught drawing at Savannah College of Art and Design and is currently teaching drawing at Miami Dade College. She is an Oolite Arts Alumna (2000-2010) and former Board of Directors Member.
