Workshop: Holiday Printmaking Gifts

Make one-of-a-kind holiday gifts for family and friends! Using basic drawing and stenciling techniques, students will learn to screen print on small textile objects of their choice, like tea towels, aprons, pillowcases or tote bags.
Participants are encouraged to bring a small textile object to print their own designs on. Students will utilize basic geometric forms and line work that can be repeatedly printed on these objects to make original presents for friends, family and loved ones.
We will provide basic paper, bring any special paper or small textile object if you want to make it really special!

About Nick Mahshie
Nick Mahshie is a textile designer and artist from Miami, Florida. He holds a Masters of Design in Fashion, Body & Garment from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he worked under the renowned visual artist, Nick Cave, and a BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design (’07).
As Oolite Arts’s printmaking resident, Mahshie will offer workshops and open studio hours to interested printmakers and those keen to expand their understanding and use of contemporary print processes.
Mahshie is also the Youth Programs Coordinator at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and has taught classes at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, New Orleans Museum of Art, Le Petit Bain (Paris) and the Children’s Museum of Art in New York City.
