Open Studio
We are opening one of our Community Studio Spaces for youth and adult working artists who are in need of a space to work distraction free. Artists can focus on personal projects, build portfolios, and develop new work. With a low instructor-to-participant ratio, individuals receive personalized guidance tailored to their artistic goals. Open Studio aims to make creative spaces more accessible and encourage art-making within our community.
Open Studio includes workshops and critiques from visiting artists and curators, enriching the creative environment. Participants benefit from expert guidance and become part of a supportive, vibrant community that fosters collaboration and artistic growth.
The program is open to high school students and working artists every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Additionally, one Saturday each month is dedicated exclusively to high school students, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore and create in a focused environment.

Workshops and Studio Visits
Claire Ashley
Scottish born, Chicago-based artist Claire Ashley mines the language of painterly abstraction, monumental sculpture, and slapstick humor to investigate inflatables as painting, sculpture, installation and performance costume. These works have been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries, museums, site-specific installations, and performance events. Ashley teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She lives in the cornfields of Illinois with her old husband, and a menagerie of pets. Her three offspring have flown the coop.

Our vision is to foster a lifelong love of art and creativity in students, particularly in communities with limited access to art education.
