With the help of writer/director and Programming Manager of New Orleans Film Society Zandashé Brown, filmmakers will learn how to best navigate the festival circuit. From knowing when to start your festival plan to creating a balanced list of tiered festivals and navigating premiere status, this session will give you all the tools to build a robust festival strategy.
In addition to the Skills sessions, attendees are able to apply for individual 1-on-1 Zoom meetings with the filmmakers leading the sessions. Applications for the 1-on-1 are now closed.
About the Speaker
Zandashé Brown is a Louisiana-born-and-raised writer/director and the Artist Engagement & Programming Manager for the New Orleans Film Society. A former fellow of NOFS’s Emerging Voices program, Zandashé now programs narrative works for the Academy Award-Qualifying New Orleans Film Festival as well as year-round events such as the annual South Summit, a convening that seeds conversations and actions around amplifying film and media content in the American South; and the NOFF Filmmaker Summit, a series of panels, talks, and workshops that take place yearly during the festival.
She has been invited to speak at the International Documentary Association’s 2020 Getting Real Conference and has participated on panels for The Gotham (formerly IFP). As a filmmaker, her work has been supported by Sundance, Tribeca, Kickstarter, Create Louisiana, the New Orleans Video Access Center, and the New Orleans Tricentennial Grant Program.
