The program currently offers four opportunities – at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Yaddo and Atlantic Center for the Arts – each with its own application process. For all four, Oolite Arts is providing stipends and covering tuition and travel expenses, making these critical opportunities more financially feasible for artists.
Residencies at Anderson Ranch Arts Center and Atlantic Center for the Arts offer a chance to bring a little bit of home to an opportunity for artistic growth in another city. Each is a residency takeover: Oolite Arts will bring a dozen Miami artists to both Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass, Colo., and Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., so they can foster new connections with each other and with the international art world. During these two residencies, the dozen Miami artists at each location will experience the inspiration of new settings and special programming, while exchanging ideas and forming collaborations with their fellow Miami artists. Applications are now open through Aug. 14, 2019 for the first opportunity at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a five-week residency starting in February 2020.
The additional two opportunities – with the Rauschenberg Foundation and Yaddo – invite Miami artists to be a part of some of the most competitive residencies in the nation. Artists will be selected by these institutions via their traditional jury process.
Our hope is that through each residency, artists will return to South Florida with new ideas and relationships that will further enrich their own careers, and Miami’s cultural community.
The four opportunities, open to both visual artists and filmmakers, are as follows:
