My multimedia sculptures explore the ways we are presented with information, from hand-painted street signs to high-end corporate advertising campaigns seen on billboards, and how we absorb and process it in our daily lives. I create compositions cut from large billboard vinyl ads, which are combined with my own photographic images printed on found glass sheets and discarded glass tabletops. Chance encounters bring other found objects into my work, and for years I work with repurposed materials as much as possible. My 2019 exhibition, Civic Sculpture, culminated a ten-year process to bring native plants and trees back to my neighborhood, Palm Grove, Miami’s largest historic district. The installation included murals layered with multimedia print pieces referencing the geography and natural history of the district, as well as tables and seating that functioned both as sculptures and a meeting place for civic discussions about architectural and ecological preservation in Miami.
