How we live like water:
Vũ
“How we live like water” is a visual network that illuminates the elemental power of water, emphasizing its unifying force that transcends borders and cultures. This exhibition honors how
water, as both a life-giving force and a formidable agent of change, binds and hold us together in the face of profound global shifts, including instances of mass upheaval, genocide and ecocide.
On a personal level, Vũ touches on this subject by drawing parallels between the landscapes of South Florida and Vietnam (places they consider “home”), particularly the shared vulnerability of these regions to the impacts of sea level rise and climate change.
About the Artist
Khánh Nguyên Hoàng Vũ (they/he/anh/em) is a queer multidisciplinary artist from Long Thành, a rural district of Đồng Nai province in the Southeast region of Vietnam. Through their work, Vũ explores the role that nature, community and spirituality plays in helping humans navigate through the passage of time and change. Their practice is a manifestation of their belief in the freedom of movement, a luxury, so it seems under the structures that form our reality. Vũ’s points of departures are collective joy, grief, spirituality, and particularly the bridge between the material and the unseen world.
