Video Art Box Summer 2021
Video Art Club (also known as Video Art Box) is an after-school program that creates long-term, collaborative partnerships between middle-school students and artists, who support the youth’s visions during the process of writing, designing, and directing short films.
During the program cycle (August – June), students participate in the complex process of collaboratively producing short films. The program is led by Cinematic Arts Resident Monica Sorelle, along with two assistant teaching artists. The students get to explore and learn about the various roles involved in the production of a film: writing and performance, art direction, camera and sound, hair and makeup, and costume design.
The current program serves 20 middle school students at St. Mary’s Cathedral School in Little Haiti. Participating students are selected via an application process.
The program culminates with a celebratory public film screening with staff, friends, and family in May.
