Information
This class will focus on an exploration of Still Life Painting and Drawing through an engaging 4-week Sunday course. Tailored for both beginners and intermediate artists, each session will delve into essential painting subjects such as composition, measuring and proportion, color theory, value, and texture and paint application.
Beginning with foundational skills in setting up and drawing compelling Still Life arrangements to develop your observational skills. Followed by studies of color theory to understand the nuances of palette selection and color harmony. Developing various brushwork techniques to create texture and form, and learning how to see and capture light and shadow to add depth and realism to your compositions.
Students will be evaluated during each class while they are painting with individual instruction and demonstrations based on how they’re performing the exercises. This course offers a supportive and instructional environment to foster and develop individual’s mark making and personal approach to painting.
Materials are not included, you’ll receive the supplies list upon registration.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Corinne Bernard (b. St. Louis, MO) received her bachelor’s degree in painting from Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles in 2015 and her master’s degree from Hunter College, New York City in 2023. She is a teaching artist at Manipura Care Network. She has been a teacher’s assistant for Juan Sachez at Hunter College (2021-2022). Bernard has participated in group exhibitions at Frost Museum of Art (2023) and Hunter College (2023), and solo and group exhibitions at Central Fine (2023). She lives and works in Miami Beach, Florida.
