Information
Take a Creative Journey with paper! This workshop is an introduction to the art of bookmaking using paper materials with a focus on simple binding and non-stitching methods. Starting from a 12” x 12” piece of paper, participants will explore a variety of techniques, including collage, painting, drawing, and printmaking, transforming the artwork into pages for a small, handmade book.
Whether you’re looking to express yourself through artistic designs or simply enjoy the craft of bookmaking, this workshop will offer plenty of opportunities to experiment and create art.
A selection of materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own personal items to truly make your project more unique by adding an extra layer of creativity to your work.
Upon completion, students will be inspired to continue exploring the art of bookmaking and may feel confident in advancing to more complex bookbinding methods. Whether for artistic expression or as a craft, this course provides a solid foundation for creating personal handmade books.
All materials are included. No previous experience is necessary.
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Create Small Books: Gain hands-on experience making mini books from paper and learn the method to scale up to larger book projects.
- Explore Art: Integrate drawing, painting, collage, printmaking into your books.
- Master Simple Binding Techniques: Learn a basic binding method and how to design book covers to complete your creations.
