The Filmmakers’ Shortlist: Cuba Queer by Hansel Porras Garcia

Join us as we continue celebrating Oolite Arts’ 40th Anniversary with a new installment of our beloved screening series, where residents and alumni present the short films that have influenced their creative journeys and deepened their love for cinema.

This special edition, curated by Hansel Porras Garcia, Oolite Arts’ 2021 Cinematic Resident and current Cinematic Arts Director, is titled “Cuba Queer”. The program features a powerful selection of contemporary Cuban short films created by Cuban filmmakers, all shot in Cuba. These works offer an intimate and nuanced look at the LGBTQ+ experience within a nation that has been under dictatorship since 1959.
