Information
Join artist Pangea Kali Virga for a unique hands-on opportunity to explore the rich traditions and contemporary practices of fiber art. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, you will have the chance to delve into the vibrant world of fiber arts, focusing on four key textile techniques: Textile Manipulation, Weaving, Embroidery, and Patchwork. Take one or all of them!
Your final project will be showcased in the annual Student Exhibition at Oolite Arts in September 2025.
In this workshop, you’ll discover both traditional and experimental methods to transform textiles into original small-scale fiber artworks. Learn various Textile Manipulation techniques such as pleating, smocking, and fabric distressing. You’ll leave with a wall hanging that collages an original patchwork of your new textile manipulation samples.
Artist in Residence at Oolite Arts, Pangea Kali Virga, has her work featured in our current exhibition, Between Here and Elsewhere. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit both her studio and the exhibition.
Supplies are included, but we’ll ask you to bring any of the materials listed below that you may have at home:
- Fabric and Fabric Scraps
- Small Branches for hanging finished works
- Yarn
- Embroidery Floss
