Lauren Shapiro lives and works in Miami, FL. Shapiro received a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Miami in 2016. She utilizes a multi-step casting process in clay to build modular sculptures and installations which reference systems and patterns found in nature. Her work draws inspiration from environmental research and data, often combining ceramics and social practices. A solo exhibition by Shapiro includes “Fragile Terrains” in Sao Paulo, Brazil at Galeria Vila Nova and Art Bastion (2018), and selected group exhibitions include “Scope” Art Fair in Miami/NYC with Directed Art Modern (2019), “LA Art Show” with Gallery 835 and Los Angeles Art Association (2018), “Ping Pong Group Exhibition” with Projektraum M54 in Basel, Switzerland (2018), “8th All- Media Juried Biennial” at Art and Culture Center in Hollywood, Florida (2017) and New Dealers Art Association “NADA” Art Fair with Locust Projects in Miami, Florida (2016).
