“Collage is like the Doing and the Being of the Soul” – Willie Báez
If you are a creative person who enjoys utilizing mixed media, this is the workshop for you to explore your visual ideas.
In this two-day workshop, you will practice and learn the art of using more than one medium to create your project. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced artist who has never explored taking things apart and putting them back together or using 3D objects such as wire, wood, string and other mediums, this workshop will guide you to do so.
The techniques in the visual arts are endless, so get ready to paint, collage and texturize with the use of magazines, newspapers, photography, and your own objects on canvas.
Before the first session, it will be helpful, for inspiration purposes, to look up the art of mixed media, outdoor paintings and posters. Also, explore the exciting world of graffiti and murals to see what other artists have created. Your participation and input will be beneficial during each session as we explore different techniques while creating your “masterpiece” and most important of all, to have fun in the process.
About the Instructor
Practicing his craft for many years has taken Willie Baéz to many heights with many groups and solo exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad. A self-taught artist in painting and drawing, Báez has also accomplished the art of printmaking and continues to explore the many techniques of this medium. Mr. Baez has studied printmaking at the School for Visual Arts in New York and local print shops in Miami. The likes of relief printmaking via linocuts, woodcuts, and gel prints are a deep passion of his, as well as intaglio printmaking.
