Getting to know your line: Drawing for beginners

Everyone can draw. You can draw. Be prepared to surprise yourself. This online course is designed for beginners and/or students with little or no drawing experience. The course will focus exclusively on the line and its connection to the body, sight and the mind. Through “the line,” students will be guided through didactic and challenging exercises exploring eye-hand coordination, gesture, space and composition. The course will focus on each student’s personal development, with the sole purpose of enriching their own creative explorations and confidence.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Gonzalo Fuenmayor was born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1977. He received his MFA from School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA in 2004, and a BFA in Fine Arts and Art Education from School of Visual Arts in 2000, where he was awarded a full-tuition scholarship from the Keith Haring Foundation. Fuenmayor has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows in USA, Latin America, and Europe. He also has years of experience teaching college-level courses in drawing and painting in the US and abroad. Currently, he teaches drawing at the University of Miami’s School of Architecture. Fuenmayor lives and works in Miami and is an Oolite Arts’ resident artist and art instructor.
