Information
Macramé is an age-old art form that has woven its way through cultures for thousands of years. Using just your hands and a few simple knots, you can transform cord into beautiful, functional textiles. No needles or fancy tools required.
In this hands-on workshop, artist Reiniery will guide you step-by-step through the meditative process of knot-making as you create your own macramé plant hanger, a versatile piece that can even become a stylish lamp.
You’ll begin with an introduction to the history and art of macramé before learning the essential knots, including the square knot, half hitch knot, and gathering knot that form the foundation of this timeless craft. As you work, you’ll explore techniques for structure, measurements, and design while enjoying the relaxing rhythm of knotting by hand. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a finished macramé plant hanger and the skills to continue creating your own macramé projects at home.
We’ll be using organic, natural white cotton, a wood ring, and other accessories; everything is provided. Just bring your creativity and curiosity! No experience necessary.
