Nicole Burko

Nicole Burko’s landscape paintings explore the limits of the natural world, the human body, and psychological depth. Rooted in her own experiences of freediving on a single breath into underwater caverns, her immersive oil paintings create a dialogue between desire, dread, and mortality.

“This summer, I will travel to Florence to study Caravaggio’s painting process at the Angel Academy of Art through a 60-hour intensive oil painting workshop focused on traditional glazing techniques. This training will support the incorporation of historical painting processes into my teaching practice.” -NB
