Marie Elena Angulo

Chair and Interim CEO

Marie Elena Angulo is Chair and Interim CEO of Oolite Arts. An attorney with more than 25 years of experience, she has advised public and private companies on capital markets, securities law, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. Throughout her career in London, New York, and Miami, she has represented clients across the United States, the United Kingdom, Africa, Australia, the Middle East, Hong Kong, and Latin America. She has also maintained a longstanding commitment to pro bono service, representing asylum seekers and survivors of human trafficking and supporting international human rights initiatives focused on women’s rights and access to water and sanitation.

A passionate collector of contemporary art since 1994, Marie Elena has built a collection focused on works on paper and photography by leading international artists while also championing South Florida artists since making Miami her home. In London, she supported organizations including the Contemporary Art Society, The Drawing Room, and Gasworks. In Miami, she has supported Locust Projects, Dimensions Variable, and Fountainhead Arts, and is a patron of The Bass; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Pérez Art Museum Miami; and the Lowe Art Museum.

Marie Elena joined Oolite Arts’ Board of Directors in 2019 and became Chair in 2023, helping guide the organization’s strategic direction, governance, financial sustainability, and mission in close partnership with senior leadership and the Board. She has also chaired the Collections and Development Committees.

Marie Elena holds a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from Princeton University; a Master of Arts and a Master of Philosophy from Yale University; and a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School.
