Say Their Names: Chire Regans

Miami-based artist Chire Regans has been commemorating lives lost to gun violence with her portraits since 2016. In her largest project yet, Regans with the help of community members, created a public mural spanning an entire city block titled ‘Say Their Names’ that acts as a memorial site for hundreds of victims of gun violences.

In the film by the same title, mother’s and activists Leatha Bush and Anita Najiy speak about the power that Regans’ work has had on bringing together community and how the work acts as an element of healing as they dealt with losing their loved ones to gun violence.

In 2020, Regans became the inaugural Social Justice Winner for The Ellies which provides her with an unrestricted grant of $25k.
