Visiting Artists
The Visiting Artists Program is a new initiative designed to enrich the Miami Art Community by introducing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches from outside the city. Through engaging lectures and workshops, this program aims to inspire creativity by exposing participants to new techniques and methodologies from established artists. These workshops are tailored for both intermediate and advanced-level participants, offering hands-on learning experiences that deepen their skills and expand their artistic knowledge.
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of hosting internationally acclaimed artist Claire Ashley as part of our Visiting Artists Program. Based in Chicago, Ashley explores the intersection of painterly abstraction, monumental sculpture, and slapstick humor, redefining inflatables as painting, sculpture, installation, and performance costumes. Her work has been showcased in galleries, museums, site-specific installations, and performance events worldwide.
From an engaging artist talk to immersive studio visits, participants experienced Claire’s vibrant world of massive inflatable sculptures. Her sold-out workshop provided a hands-on exploration of inflatable construction, where artists used Tyvek and duct tape to create bold, dynamic forms. The session concluded with a striking group installation, bringing their colorful creations to life.
Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming visiting artists!
