Gonzalo Hernández

Gonzalo Hernández (b. 1991) was born in Lima, Peru, and lives and works in Miami, Florida. Hernández received an M.F.A. from Savannah College of Art and Design (2019). His practice examines labor, migration, identity, and the systems through which cultural and artistic value is constructed. Through appropriation, repetition, and material transformation, Hernández considers how personal experience intersects with broader institutional, economic, and geopolitical structures. Selected solo exhibitions include “Félix, Richard and Me” (2025), David Castillo Gallery, Miami, Florida; “Ways of Disappearing” (2024), ICPNA, Lima, Peru; and “We Will Have to Tear Down All These Walls” (2023), Kates-Ferri Projects, New York, New York. Selected group exhibitions include “This Is America: Selections from PAMM’s Collection” (2026), Pérez Art Museum Miami, Miami, Florida, and “Sites of the Self” (2026), Oolite Arts, Miami Beach, Florida.

During Miami Art Week 2026, Hernández’s work will be presented concurrently at Pérez Art Museum Miami and El Espacio 23, where he will participate in the upcoming exhibition “Nothing Is Linear: Relations Across Latin America and Its Diasporas in the Jorge M. Pérez Collection” (2026). Hernández was nominated for the CIFO Grants & Commissions Program (2026 & 2027) and is an Oolite Arts Studio Resident (2026). His work is held in the collections of Pérez Art Museum Miami, El Espacio 23, ICPNA, Micromuseo, Savannah College of Art and Design, and the De la Cruz Collection.
