Join us online to learn more about The Cinematic Arts Residency, which will provide one filmmaker with up to $50,000 to create a micro-budget feature, alongside a free studio workspace and producer to oversee the project.
Get your questions answered by 2020 Cinematic Arts Resident Edson Jean and his producer Fabiola Rodriguez, as well as Oolite Arts’ Cinematic Arts Manager Danielle Bender. Applications are due before the 6:00 p.m. February 15th deadline.

About Edson Jean + Fabiola Rodriguez
Edson Jean
Edson Jean is a Haitian-American actor/writer/director who’s debut feature film LUDI participated in the Independent Filmmaker Project’s Narrative Labs program and is preparing for its 2020 release. He most recently was nominated for a Streamy and Mipcom award for directing all eight (23 minute) episodes of his dramedy, Grown, for Complex Networks. Prior to that, he wrote, directed, and starred in The Adventures of Edson Jean (2013), which aired on HBO/HBOGO. As an actor he was most recently seen in Moonlight, War Dogs, HBO’s Ballers and Bloodline (Netflix).
Fabiola Rodriguez
Fabiola Rodriguez is an independent film and television producer based in Miami, Florida. For 11 years, she worked at South Florida PBS (WPBT), where she first produced children’s content and later news and political programming. While there, she earned a Regional Emmy Award and three Telly Awards. She left South Florida PBS to pursue opportunities in the narrative space. In 2018, Fabiola was a part of the producing team behind “Huracán,” a psychological drama directed by Cassius Corrigan. The film was acquired by HBO in the fall of 2020 and was released theatrically in the UK by Studio Soho. Her most recent project, a narrative feature film titled “Ludi,” is being directed by Edson Jean and executive produced by Oolite Arts, one of Miami’s largest artist support organizations. “Ludi” was selected to be a part of IFP’s Narrative Lab and US in Progress Wroclaw, while Fabiola is a fellow of the New Orleans Film Society’s Southern Producers Lab. Fabiola has also worked as crew on productions such as Prime Video’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” A24’s “Waves,” ABC’s “Grand Hotel” and independent films such as “Critical Thinking” and “Reefa.” Fabiola graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies.
