Diego Gutierrez

The exhibition showcases Gutierrez’s new paintings inside an installation that functions as a way of expanding predetermined ideas for components that make up a painting. His work reflects his experience as a painter and the attempt to expand his ideas of what a painting is or can be. Influenced by the expectations of having digital relevancy and fears of a short painting life, the installation embellishes the visual language and jumps across mediums, creating an endless loop of art making.

Artist Bio: 

Diego Gutierrez was born in 1982 in Los Angeles, and received his Master’s in painting at School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012. Gutierrez has been included in multiple group exhibitions including “Welcome to Miami” at The Fountainhead Residency, Miami, and “Doers Doing” at Gesamtkunst Werkshop, Brooklyn, N.Y. Gutierrez currently lives and works in Miami.
