Idioms and Taxonomies is an exhibition by Oolite artists-in-residence whose practices investigate the dual roles of personal and cultural histories. Conversations about how to depict subjects, protect cultural heritage, preserve architectural memory, and reflect upon diaspora are all present considerations. The works conflate historical and contemporary points of reference, and their nuanced messages implore viewers to examine their relationships to space, community, and isolation.
Participating artists: Jen Clay, Yanira Collado, Mark Fleuridor, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, Diego Gutierrez, Felice Grodin, AdrienneRose Gionta, Paloma Izquierdo, Phillip Karp, Nick Mahshie, T. Elliot Mansa, Marielle Plaisir, Nabila Zoraya Santa-Cristo, Misael Soto, Roscoe B. Thicke III and Sasha Wortzel.
