Ricardo E. Zulueta: SUPERNATURE

Dec. 2 – 6, 2026

Oolite Arts + Dot Fiftyone Gallery at Untitled Art / Ricardo E. Zulueta

For the 2026 edition of Untitled Art, Oolite Arts and Dot Fiftyone Gallery partner to present the project SUPERNATURE by 2026 Oolite Arts resident Ricardo E. Zulueta.

Zulueta’s multidisciplinary practice examines how technology and media shape, interrogate, and subvert contemporary constructions of gender, sexuality, behavior, and identity through experimental modes of storytelling that manifest in a vernacular of idiosyncratic codes and symbols.

According to the artist: “My project, SUPERNATURE, constructs a speculative iconography for a post-human species drawing on glitch theory and counter-hegemonic practices that positions malfunction and interruption as forms of resistance, exposing the infrastructures of surveillance, extraction, and control that often remain invisible.

“Across media, technological error and exposed infrastructure are treated as liminal openings; the exhibition inhabits the thresholds they produce — between human and post-human, ritual and data capture, image and error — gesturing toward a queer futurity, one that arrives deliberately unresolved.”

About the artist:

Ricardo E. Zulueta (b. 1962, Havana, Cuba) is an interdisciplinary artist and scholar based in Miami. He holds a Ph.D. in Cinema and Media Studies and an M.F.A. in Visual Art from the University of Miami and has served as a Helbein Scholar at New York University.

Zulueta’s practice spans video, digital imaging, photography, painting, computational media, sculpture, performance and installation. From early large-scale photo-performance works to more recent immersive multimedia installations, his work consistently explores mediated expressions of gender, sexuality, behavior and identity within sociopolitical landscapes. Through research and artistic practice, he examines how technology and media shape, interrogate and subvert normative constructions of identity, developing experimental modes of storytelling through idiosyncratic codes and symbols of disidentification.

His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues including the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; Steirischer Herbst, Graz; Museo Alejandro Otero, Caracas; White Columns, New York; International Center of Photography, New York; Artists Space, New York; El Museo del Barrio, New York; Western Front, Vancouver; Grey Art Museum at New York University; Bronx Museum of the Arts; Dazibao Contemporary Art Center, Montreal; Exit Art, New York; Fotofest Biennial, Houston; and the Creative Time Summit at Pérez Art Museum Miami, among others.

Zulueta is a recipient of the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, Art Matters Fellowship, Cintas Foundation Artist Fellowship, South Florida Cultural Consortium Artist Fellowship, Oolite Arts’ Ellies Creator Award and the Miami Individual Artist Grant.
