Bex McCharen
Bex McCharen is an interdisciplinary artist and founder of the inclusive fashion label Chromat. They studied at the University of Virginia School of Architecture and are based in Miami, FL. They utilize quilting, photography, filmmaking, and social practice to create visual archives of individual and collective transformation and the ocean as a spiritual zone of rebirth.
They are the recipient of the Smithsonian National Design Award and have been recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Hyperallergic, and Vogue, and named to the OUT 100 for their cultural impact.
They gave a TED Talk on inclusive design, curated ‘Queer Joy’ at MoMA PS1, and their work is in the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
