Lucía Morales is a Miami-based artist and educator from Peru. Her childhood home and cultural heritage have significantly influenced her artistic practice. Maintaining a strong connection to her roots, she has danced Peruvian and Andean folklore since childhood. Her work explores how migration and immigration challenge notions of identity. Using textiles, painting, video, and installation, Morales creates figurative works that reflect both her current experiences and transformative moments from her past. As her work evolves, she aims to make community visible by including the stories and histories of others, while creating shared spaces for collective engagement.
Morales earned her MFA from Florida International University in 2025, as well as a Master’s in Art Education and a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture from the same institution. She has been involved with dance since 2003, working as an assistant instructor and performer with Sumaj Tusuy Dance. Additionally, Morales has worked as an art educator in Broward and Miami-Dade public schools, as well as with various local cultural institutions. In 2024, she presented her work at The Quechua Alliance’s annual gathering in Chicago, IL, and at Kuyayky STARTLabs in Jauja, Peru. Both organizations focus on preserving the Quechua language and Andean traditions.
