Yusimy Lara
Yusimy Lara is a Miami-based artist born in Havana, Cuba. After attending chess school and college in Havana, she emigrated to Italy where she had the opportunity to experience historically influential artworks and learn about European cultures. Lara lived in Rome for seven years before moving to Miami, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from New World School of the Arts.
Lara’s work has been exhibited in different venues of the Miami area, including Mindy Solomon Gallery, Martin and Pat Fine Center for the Arts, Kampong Botanical Garden, Sagamore Hotel and Fredric Snitzer Gallery. Her sculptures are part of several private art collections.
She is currently an intern for the Art in Public Places program with the Miami Dade Cultural Affairs Department, supporting the local art community. Her artistic practice explores subjects related to natural processes and their connection to humanity through visual representations and dialogue.
