Oolite Arts Launches First Youth Artist Residency Program for High School Artists in January 2026
Program expands access to professional art training, mentorship, and portfolio development for teens across South Florida
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Jan. 13, 2026 — Oolite Arts launched its first Youth Artist Residency Program, expanding its education offerings to serve high school students interested in pursuing careers as artists. Designed for teenaged artists who aspire to a professional visual artist career, the new residency provides hands-on training, professional mentorship, and dedicated studio access to support the development of portfolio-ready work – the same support for professional artists that Oolite Arts has provided the Miami arts community for 40 years.
Through the Youth Artist Residency Program, students will explore contemporary art practices, build technical and conceptual skills, and gain firsthand exposure to working as a professional artist. Residents will work closely with Oolite Arts teaching artists and visiting mentors while being immersed in a working studio environment alongside established adult residents at Oolite Arts, one of a kind artist studio building at 924 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. 924 Lincoln Road includes artist studios, maker space with print, digital, film, and textile artmaking tools, classrooms, and galleries.
The program reflects Oolite Arts’ ongoing commitment to expanding access to high-quality arts education and supporting artists at every stage of their creative development. As part of this effort, Oolite Arts is partnering with the Little Haiti Cultural Center and actively collaborating with the local community as the organization prepares to open its new campus at the crossroads of Little Haiti and Little River.
“With the launch of our Youth Artist Residency Program, we are creating a meaningful pathway for young artists to explore what a future as artists can look like,” said Oolite Arts President and CEO John Abodeely. “By connecting education, mentorship, and professional practice, and by working closely with the Little Haiti community, we are expanding access and opportunity for the next generation of artists.”
