Sheherazade Thénard

Sheherazade Thénard is a Martiniquan artist based in Miami, FL, working across painting, drawing, and printmaking. They reimagine the landscapes of their Caribbean heritage and life in South Florida as places where family memory, spirituality, and queer intimacy take root. As a keeper of family ephemera, Thénard brings personal archives into conversation with lush foliage, water, and protective symbols, tracing how belonging is carried through bodies and across generations. Their work imagines spaces where Black life can be tender, mysterious, and self-possessed, held by an ancestral connection to land.

Thénard earned their MFA from the University of Central Florida and has participated in residencies at Oolite Arts, Heat Exchange in Norway, AIRIE in the Everglades, and the Fores Project in London. Their work has been exhibited at Dimensions Variable in Miami, Highline Nine in New York, and Chili Arts Project in London.
