Information
Join artist Jacoub Reyes for The Evolving Edge, a hands-on workshop that celebrates the beauty and resilience of Miami’s mangroves through linoleum carving and clay. In this immersive session, participants will explore the intricate root systems and organic forms of these vital coastal ecosystems while learning foundational techniques in relief printmaking and ceramics.
Through guided instruction and creative experimentation, you’ll translate the layered, interwoven structures of mangroves into carved prints and sculptural clay forms, creating artwork that reflects both personal expression and environmental awareness.
Learn the basics of linoleum carving and relief printing, along with introductory clay-building techniques. Participants will be guided step-by-step while encouraged to develop their own interpretations of mangrove forms.
Discover the essential role mangroves play in protecting Miami’s coastline, from supporting biodiversity to strengthening climate resilience, and reflect on how art can respond to and advocate for our natural surroundings.
You’ll work alongside fellow community members in a welcoming, supportive environment. This intimate workshop (limited to 12 participants) fosters connection, creativity, and shared learning.
