Information
Enhance your creative expression through playful exercises inspired by traditional and contemporary Masters.
This 6-week course is designed for beginners, intermediate students, and experienced artists who want to expand their visual vocabulary.
Through demonstrations, observational drawing, and critical reviews of both new and old masters, we will explore the multitude of ways to express yourself through mark-making.
The instructor will focus on drawing fundamentals and introduce different materials and tools, such as ink and charcoal. We will investigate emotional, psychological, and social expressions, encouraging artists to step out of their comfort zones and create personal statements.
Classes will cover various modes of seeing and drawing, descriptive drawing, illustration, and drawing as commentary. Topics such as Imagination, abstraction and composition will be discussed. Additionally, we will explore concepts such as attitude, energy, movement, rhythm, and working from reference photos.
By the end of this course, artists will be able to move beyond basic drawing concepts and discover the many ways to express their feelings and creativity through making marks on a surface. They will develop fluency with a variety of materials and surfaces.
