Artist bio:
Phillip Karp’s approach to image making is best described by its ever changing freedom to explore a visual language. His personal praxis allows him to reach towards the vast range of theoretical possibilities through new methods and experiences. Karp’s work encourages the viewer to reflect on the act of looking itself, emphasizing observation as a complex, continuous process.
Phillip Karp was born in New York City and currently based in Miami, Florida. Karp has exhibited in group exhibitions, including at the Frost Art Museum, Daniel Marban Gallery, and the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel. He completed residencies at Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna, FL and Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado. Karp was an artist in residence at Oolite Arts in Miami, Florida from 2019-2021.
