Thanks to a partnership with Terranova Corporation, the Oolite Arts Project Space in Downtown Coral Gables offers a free studio plus exhibition opportunities to a dozen Miami-based artists at 255 Alhambra.
The artists, chosen from the pool of applicants for Oolite’s Studio Art Residency program in Miami Beach, enjoy 24/7 access to studio space. In addition, artists will be featured each month during an exhibition of their work in the lobby.
The selected artists are the artist collective WE ARE NICE AND EASY (Allison Matherly and Jeffrey Noble), Kelly Breez, Beatriz Chachamovits, Agua Dulce, Diego Gabaldon, Becca McCharen, Victoria Ravelo, Nicole Salcedo, Carrie Sieh and Fereshteh Toosi.
Artist Elaine Defibaugh will serve as a resident advisor at the space. Each will have studio space through the summer of 2024 with the possibility of an extension.

The inaugural exhibition curated by Dainy Tapia of ArtSeen365, is inspired by water. Being in Miami, we are never far from water. Humidity, rain and then flooding, pools, canals, man-made lakes, and beaches are all part of our quotidian lives. Whether we are conscious of it or not, water permeates and conditions us. And let’s not forget our bodies are also mostly made of this precious element! The 12 artists featured in this exhibit have looked and come to the theme of water for many reasons: to reflect on their lineage and their memories, to meditate on their inner life, to be rebirthed, to learn, share, and highlight the importance of marine life, and of course, to have fun! Water is life, and life takes on many shapes in an urban space as diverse as ours yet something remains true: we are all living by and through the waters.
