Curated by Dejha Carrington

How to go on when there’s no turning back? This spring, 17 artists-in-residence at Oolite Arts in Miami explore concepts of irreversible time and the continuous loop of existence.

Through various mediums, they craft pathways through time, circling between multiple pasts and potential futures. Rewriting histories, memory work, transformation states, and digital and ancestral technologies are revealed as underlying motifs.

“Everything is a Spiral” is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with time. The opening reception will take place at 7 p.m. May 8

About the curator
Dejha Carrington is an arts worker and organizer. As Executive Director of Commissioner, a program that brings people together to support artists and collect art, she spearheads initiatives across cities, including Miami, Detroit, and New York. Previously, she held leadership roles at YoungArts and collaborated on storytelling with institutions like Kimball Art Museum, Medellin Biennial, and National Film Board of Canada. Dejha serves on the boards of MAP Fund and The Black School, and on advisory committees at Miami-Dade Art In Public Places, New York University’s Center of Black Visual Culture, and the University of Miami’s Global Center for Black Studies. She teaches at New World School of the Arts.
